Lindsay Lohan’s Expanded 6126 Line Is What You’d Expect

Ask the fashion gods and sometimes you just may receive. Like yesterday when we begged the universe for sketches of Lindsay Lohan’s 6126 expanded clothing line, and, voilà, today we have gloriously tarty clothes paired with — wait for it — padded leggings! Lindsay, you’re the gift that keeps on giving! The line, according to WWD, will consist of 100 pieces. The average prices will be between $100 and $150, but go so high as $600 for a leather jacket, and will retail at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Nordstrom.

The line, as you can see from the lovely sketches, is a mix of separates, bustiers, vests, and short, tight dresses — nothing groundbreaking. But! WWD clues us in to the man behind the scenes: Henri Levy, chief executive officer of DNAM Apparel, which will manufacture the line. If his name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps another line he manufactures will: Ed Hardy. It seems Linds is in good company.

And lest you think she won’t actually be designing, let’s set the record straight: “She’s intimately involved from Day One,” Kristi Kaylor, principal in 6126 LLC, said. “She picks fabrics. She looks at trims. She picks buttons. She doesn’t let anything go into production without trying it on.” The line is also looking to expand more with cosmetics, handbags, shoes, and jewelry coming in 2011. Maybe this coming year is the mark of her return? Oh, we kid.

Best Bet: Sail Away

If there were ever a season to live in layers, it’s winter. And insulation doesn’t have to be big and bulky to keep you cozy. That’s why we like the striped boyfriend sweater by Paul & Joe Sister. With only several strips of blue on the gray cotton cardigan, the nautical trend isn’t too overpowering, and there are two modest bows on the front lower pockets to keep it flirty. Even better, the fit is loose enough to throw over your seasonal wears like thermals, turtlenecks, and long-sleeve tees. And bring it along in the hotter months, too — it looks great over a cami.

Models Use Their Power for Good

Alek Wek and Natalia Vodianova

Models might be the faces of global fashion campaigns, but some are also becoming the faces of global charities. That’s right, they do good things (and look good while doing it). Having lived through not-so-perfect lives in their pre-modeling days, they’re trying to make the world a better place. Which makes it really hard to hate them. The Times delved deep into the world of do-gooder models (and with nary a Zoolander joke; kudos) and profiled a few beautiful ladies who are lending a helping hand or two. Pay attention, everyone: We can learn a little from them.

Model No. 1: Tasha de Vasconcelos, the current face of Nivea. She set up a maternity ward in Kasese, Malawi, earlier this year with funding courtesy of Louis Vuitton.

Model No. 2: Gisele Bündchen, maybe you’ve heard of her? She’s the current goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Environment Program and protects rain forests in Brazil. (When was the last time you even recycled?)

Model No. 3: Alek Wek, supermodel. She’s working on improving health conditions in Sudan.

Model No. 4: Natalia Vodianova, supermodel. After helping to raise a disabled sister, she set up her own organization, Naked Heart Foundation, which builds playground parks for Russian children.

The takeaway from all this? If these ladies, who have busy lives and families and fabulous parties to go to, can take time to make the world a smidgen better, you can probably haul your butt down to a soup kitchen or write a check. Sharing is caring, people.

Will Balmainia Ever End? Not at Zara

Zara unveiled its supersecret 1,000 sandal, a limited-edition shoe that looks remarkably like the studded strap-heavy Balmains that we’ve been inundated with already. The Zara shoe, which retails for $229 (rather pricey for the store), comes with a number stamped on the bottom and a specially designed box. Would you shell out for these? [Racked]
