In this week’s Video Look Book, our camera crew caught art director Louise Sa on a “non-tight-pant day.” She’s wearing almost head-to-toe designer gear (Dior, Rick Owens, Prada, D&G), but it’s her bright-blue nail polish, part of the Shrek line of O.P.I. colors, that really pops. Watch the video to see more of Sa’s funky “Tribeca–Bed-Stuy” style.

In this week’s Video Look Book, our camera crew stopped dreadlocked skateboarder/film student Axuan Vrolijk. Born in Guatemala, Vrolijk considers himself a pupil of the world and describes his personal style as “international.” That means a belt-cum-bandanna from Bali, a bracelet from a Buddhist monk who lives in a cave in Thailand, and pants from Zara. (Hey, it’s a Spanish chain!) Watch the video to see Vrolijk walk us through his outfit, and bust some skateboarding moves in Union Square.

Fashion marketer Glenda Cortez lets her moods dictate her outfits. When our Video Look Book team stopped her in Soho, she was wearing a mix of high and low brands: Miu Miu, H&M, Urban Outfitters. Cortez says her clothes inspire her friends back home in Mexico, and that whenever she visits, it causes notable “movement.” Watch the video to see Cortez (and her harem pants) in action.

In this week’s Video Look Book, our camera crew stopped accessories designer (and Sartorialist fave) Amir Toos. A quick chat revealed the Park Sloper’s love of Lanvin menswear (“very understated”), and his mild distaste for Williamsburg’s “cookie-cutter” fashionistas. Watch the video to see more of Toos, who also happens to be his own best advertiser (the bag, belt, and silver cuffs are all his designs).

Vintage devotee Russell Manley extends his love of retro fashion to his salon, Tommy Guns. “We kept it all vintage-looking because it fits with the area,” he says. “I can’t imagine being in another part of New York other than the Lower East Side.” When our Video Look Book caught up with Manley, he was wearing a collarless shirt by Craig Russell, trousers and suspenders from Ralph Lauren’s now-defunct Double RL label, and wing-tip oxfords he found in a Japanese store on Prince Street. But his best accessories may just be his handlebar mustache and full-body tattoos, which “stop at the knees so it doesn’t look like I’ve got tights [on].” See more of Manley in our Video Look Book.

New York fashion director Harriet Mays Powell caught up with Stella McCartney at her resort 2011 presentation last night. Sorry, spring presentation. “How unsexy is that word? Does anyone even use the word resort?” the designer asked. “Even people that have resorts. We call it spring.” Which is fitting, since the season inspired the collection (which we’ll be posting in full soon). “It’s hopeful and uplifting. Trying to keep the same language we had in the show with all the flowers and all the whites, just to make it really pure and sharp.” See the looks, and watch Stella’s models dance and play chess, in the video.

New York fashion director Harriet Mays Powell took a whirlwind look at American designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors’s resort 2011 collection (see all 36 looks here). They also chatted about the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be bestowed upon Kors at tonight’s CFDAs. Though the designer says he was honored to receive the nod, he was a bit shocked, too: “In my head … I’m, like, a kid. I’m 25!”

Model Lakshmi Menon wore studded, cuffed denim shorts from the Gap when our Video Look Book cameras caught her strolling around Soho this week. She said she’d been doing some work for Nordstrom — much easier than couture shoots. She paired the faded jean shorts with a top by Dries Van Noten, Tod’s loafers, and a bag by Givenchy. She explained that her “easy chic” style is inspired by what she sees people wearing on the streets. “You see a huge amount of influences, and especially cultural influences, which you don’t see so much on the runway, I guess, because the runway’s also very trend-oriented. But on the streets it’s also a lot more spontaneous — that’s what I like about street style.” Check her out in the Video Look Book.

Aspiring designer Devani Weaver certainly isn’t print-shy. The day the Video Look Book camera caught her, she wore four different florals among her cardigan, leggings, purse, and necklace. In fact, the only items of clothing on her to escape spring’s flowery clutches were her brown lace-up boots and sunglasses. “This is probably the cheapest outfit ever,” Devani confided. “All vintage.” Devani takes inspiration from “Victorian, almost Tim Burton style,” and we can see the influence in her cameo bracelet and oversize head bow. As for her hair, Devani is a perm devotee. “I kept it tame today,” she told us, “It’s usually a lot bigger.” See more in the video.

Asako Itono was enjoying a coffee at Saturday’s Surf NYC in Soho when our Look Book cameras spotted her. With her flouncy summer dress and wicker hat, she epitomized the classic “flight-attendant casual” look. Okay, that “look” may not yet exist in fashion terminology, but she is, in fact, a flight attendant here in the city who’s in between shifts. She works for Emirates Airlines, and therefore must be based in Dubai, a city about which she has mixed feelings. “It’s good. It’s not fantastic, to be honest. But it’s … it’s different.” That day she’d been roaming Soho and Williamsburg in an all-Japanese number, complete with Chanel rings and a pair of Eiffel Tower earrings she made. So let’s review: born in Japan, living in Dubai, working on an airliner, running around New York — this chick is global. Click to watch!
